CEO JAJO puts AC40 simulator into use
Ivo van der Mark – CEO of JAJO officially put the AC40 simulator into use on Tuesday by sailing a virtual race.

Van der Mark: “As JAJO we want to show that dreams come true if you persevere and work together. The Dutch participation in the America’s Cup for women and youth is such a dream. A dream that we like to support and with which we want to inspire generations with entrepreneurship, innovation, and courage.”

Collaboration makes participation DutchSail possible
“This participation is unique, it’s the first time that a team will participate under the Dutch flag. This is only possible because many parties work together on a daily base.” Said Sander van der Borch, operationally responsible for the campaigns from DutchSail.

Coach Pieter-Jan Postma adds to Van der Borch: “When we continue to strengthen cooperation and work together, we have a good chance of being able to battle at the top. But that’s not something that will happen automatically. By doing everything a little smarter we try to be and stay one step ahead of the competition. We were one of the firsts to purchase the simulator, thanks to the support of our partner JAJO. Now we’re the first to have completed the trials.”

In addition, “We try to bring together all available knowledge from the various knowledge institutes but also the institutes in sport. Everything to get as prepared as possible to the start in a year’s time from now.”

One of the parties that supports the initiative is The Royal Netherlands Watersport Association. Not only are eight of the twelve sailors part of Team Allianz – the Dutch Olympic team – but the campaign can also use the facilities and knowledge available at the National Top Sports Center in The Hague.

Arno van Gerven – director of The Royal Netherlands Watersport Association: “We have a wonderful generation of young talented athletes and coaches who deserve the opportunity to get the most out their career. It’s good for the sport in general that committed people, clubs and companies now make this journey possible. And seize the moment to join forces.”

“We have had a wonderful World Sailing Championship in The Hague, The Olympic Games are just around the corner and straight after that another wonderful opportunity waits for this generation of sailors with the participation in both the Youth and Puig Women’s America’s Cup. As Federation we make our knowledge, experience, and facilities available for this special project.”
